“I always thought it would be better to be a fake somebody than a real nobody.”
—Tom Ripley
Join us in May for a screening of the dark-but-glamorous modern classic, The Talented Mr Ripley - based on the acclaimed novel by Patricia Highsmith.
Tom Ripley (Matt Damon) is a successful Princeton graduate, a jazz aficionado and a caring friend. Or is he?
Asked by a wealthy shipping magnate to track down his playboy son (Jude Law) and bring him back to America, Ripley travels to the sun-drenched shores of the Amalfi coast in the hope of making a quick buck.
But enamored by Dickie’s care-free bohemian life, and jealous of his devoted girlfriend (Gwyneth Paltrow), he slowly descends into an intense obsession that takes him down a perilous path.
With supporting appearances by Oscar winners Philip Seymour Hoffman and Cate Blanchett, The Talented Mr Ripley is a tense tale of deceit and desperation.
